About me

Welcome to My Calisthenics Journey!

My name is Eduardo “Edu” Ruiz Corrales, I’m originally from Costa Rica and moved to Switzerland in 2018.

In Costa Rica, I was studying to become a high school math teacher. I have always loved teaching and gained invaluable insights from didactics and pedagogy courses. However, when I moved to Switzerland, I paused my studies and started working at a data erasure company.

Rediscovering My Passion

My fitness journey began when I was 15 years old at a traditional fitness center. I always enjoyed incorporating bodyweight exercises into my workout plans, which laid a strong foundation for my eventual passion for calisthenics.

After securing my job in Switzerland, I returned to the fitness center and developed a strong interest in advanced calisthenics moves like the muscle-up and handstand. Although I had trained these skills back in Costa Rica, I had not been consistent. This renewed interest led me to dive deeper into calisthenics, culminating in completing a course with street-workout.com in St. Gallen, Switzerland, in 2021. In 2022, I earned certification from the Spanish Federation of Street Workout & Calisthenics (FESWC).

Offering Training Sessions and Collaborations

I began offering outdoor group training sessions and provided training for the Akademischer Sportverband Zürich (ASVZ) and later for Laboratorium.cc. I also continued collaborating with street-workout.com at various events, such as summer outdoor open classes, school sessions, and Openair Frauenfeld 2022.

Full Commitment to Calisthenics

After nearly three years of balancing my IT job (reduced to 80%) with my calisthenics passion, I decided to fully commit to calisthenics. In August 2024, I left my IT job to focus entirely on calisthenics at Bardogs Zürich, where I had been training for the past two years and had participated in one of their shows at Züri Fest 2023.

Sharing My Passion

Throughout this journey, I have always tried to motivate others and help them progress in the sport. Many people have told me they can feel my passion for calisthenics, and I love that it’s evident without needing to say it. Let me share my passion with you and help you become a stronger version of yourself!

All the best,

Edu
